This morning, Commissioner Maria Torres-Springer led a roundtable discussion with 25 immigrant business owners, stakeholders, community-based organizations, and elected officials to discuss the City’s work to support immigrants, discuss the needs of immigrant businesses, and brainstorm best ways to meet these needs.

The event was hosted by Immigrant Business Initiative partner Renaissance Economic Development Corporation in Sunset Park. Participants included:

  • Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs
  • Representatives from the office of Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez
  • NYC Council Member Robert Cornegy and staff
  • Representatives from the office of NYC Council Member Carlos Menchaca
  • Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce President Carlo Scissura and staff
  • Representatives from the Brooklyn Public Library
  • Representatives from the Business Outreach Center Network
  • Representatives from Mixteca Organization
  • Representatives from COPO
